Parts fitment database: coverage by make and modification

A parts fitment database holds the links between a part number and the vehicle modifications it goes on: the list of vehicles a given part fits, with the conditions and the limits of the installation. One part number fits dozens of modifications, each with its own engine, build years and body. Those links are dropped into the price list, into the product card and into the “Fits these vehicles” block across the whole range.

The question asked before buying is usually one: is my own range covered. Below is the measurement of the fitment database taken on 31 August 2026 — a full count, with no rounding in our own favour.

Prices and export formats are further down this page.

How fitment data affects sales

A buyer pays once they are sure the part goes on their car. They settle that themselves — on your product card or in a marketplace listing, before any call and before the order. Fitment data is what gives them the answer.

The listing shows up in search by vehicle. The query is “front brake pads for a 2019 Vauxhall Corsa”, and on eBay it is the “Fits your vehicle” filter running against the garage the buyer has saved. A listing with no vehicle links never reaches those results: the part sits on the shelf and the buyer never sees it. With the links, the same listing answers dozens of queries that name a vehicle.

The “it fits” answer is visible immediately. A “Fits these vehicles” block under the photo, together with the conditions — disc diameter, start-stop, build date — settle the doubt on the spot. The buyer has no reason to message and wait for a reply, so nothing interrupts the purchase.

Fewer returns and wrong-part shipments. Shipping against a model name while ignoring the modification means the part does not go on: return postage, a refund, a customer who does not come back. Conditions visible before payment filter the wrong choice out in advance.

The counter answers faster. “Will it fit mine” no longer means a catalogue lookup and a call to the supplier: with the links inside your inventory system the answer takes seconds, and anyone on the counter can give it.

An aftermarket equivalent carries its own fitment. The vehicle list of a replacement differs from the original’s. Copy the original’s list onto the equivalent’s card and the return is built in from the start.

Filling this in by hand does not scale: one part number covers dozens of modifications, and a price list runs to thousands of lines. The links are taken ready-made and dropped into the feed, into the product cards on your own site and into the marketplace exports.

The unit is the modification, one level below the model: “320d, 2.0, 120 kW, saloon, 2005–2010”. The part number is linked to that, which is why the owner of a diesel and the owner of a petrol car see different parts for the same model. To pin a specific vehicle to its modification, Vindec reads the VIN down to a catalogue row.

The name of each vehicle kind links to the full list of its makes as CSV.

Two things the table says directly:

  • Passenger cars and light commercial vehicles are close to complete — 99% and 100% of modifications, half a billion links between them. That is the core range of a parts retailer and of an online shop.
  • Electric motorcycles are covered at 42% and electric commercial vehicles at 79%. The newest segments are only partly collected, and we say so before the sale.

Fitment by vehicle make

A headline number says little about one particular shelf, so here is the split by make — the thirty with the widest coverage in each vehicle kind. The full lists, including makes with no fitment at all, are in the files below.

Download the fitment coverage as CSV

Every figure on this page can be re-checked: the measurement is published as files in an open repository — one CSV per vehicle kind, comma-separated, UTF-8.

Each file carries the make name, the number of modifications in the database, the number of modifications with fitment and the number of fitment records. Makes with a zero are left in on purpose: they answer the question “is this make in your database at all”.

Fitment to an engine and to an axle

In the commercial-vehicle segment a manufacturer often links a part to an assembly — to the engine or to the axle. Those links are in the database as well:

Link target Targets in the database Fitment records
Engine 37,424 14,720,434
Axle 7,095 1,720,960
Manufacturer id (commercial vehicles) 65,782 1,441,773

For a shop working with trucks and trailers this is a working layer: filters and brake pads get looked up by engine and by axle more often than by the model of the tractor unit.

How to read these fitment numbers

“No link” means one thing: there is no record in the database. The part may physically go on; on a product card, standing on what is recorded is the honest option.

  • Coverage is measured against the modifications present in the database. A make absent from the database is absent from the tables; in the downloads such makes are marked with a zero, and we name them plainly.
  • The measurement carries a date. The database grows, and the next snapshot will be published here with a date of its own.

Frequently asked questions about fitment data

What is parts fitment data?

It is the link between a part number and vehicle modifications: the list of vehicles a part goes on, together with the conditions of the installation — engine, build years, body. On a product card the buyer sees it as the “Fits these vehicles” block.

How does a modification differ from a model?

The model is “320d”; the modification is “320d, 2.0, 120 kW, saloon, 2005–2010”. A part number is linked to the modification, which is why the owner of a diesel and the owner of a petrol car see different parts for the same model.

How much of the fitment database is covered?

Measured on 31 August 2026: 678,968,446 fitment records, and 160,627 of 167,326 modifications carry fitment — 96%. The split by vehicle kind and by make is in the tables on this page.

How do I check whether a part fits, starting from a part number?

The part number returns its list of modifications from the fitment database. If the buyer’s modification is on the list, the part goes on; the conditions of the installation are read as a separate line — engine, body and build date.

In what format is the fitment database delivered?

A ready “Fits these vehicles” list for marketplace upload templates, Excel and plain text for the product cards on your own site, SQL for MySQL or PostgreSQL if you enrich the feed on your side, and an ACES/PIES-compatible export where your catalogue pipeline consumes that standard.

How much does the parts fitment database cost?

An export for one parts brand is €35, an export for one vehicle make is €55, and the full fitment database as SQL is €450.

Can I check the coverage before paying?

Yes. Send the brands and makes you carry and you get the numbers for them before payment. The whole measurement is published as files in an open GitHub repository, so it can be re-checked independently.

Check the fitment coverage against your own range

A headline coverage figure still says little about one particular shelf, and ranges differ from shop to shop. So the order is:

  1. Name the brands and makes you carry — we check the coverage against exactly those and show you the numbers before payment.
  2. Take one brand as an export — the one that moves fastest, to test the links on your own lines.
  3. Then the full database, as SQL or as a marketplace-ready export.

Prices

€35Fitment export for one parts brand — febi bilstein or Meyle, for example. The easiest way to test the links on your own lines.
€55Fitment export for one vehicle make — VW, Vauxhall, Škoda and the like.
€450The full parts fitment database, SQL.

Formats: a ready “Fits these vehicles” list for marketplace upload templates, Excel and plain text for the product cards on your own site, SQL (MySQL / PostgreSQL) if you enrich the feed on your side, and an ACES/PIES-compatible export where your catalogue pipeline consumes that standard.
